Exporting

DrawIt allows you to export your document to a variety of formats, including JPG, TIFF. When you go to File → Export from the menu, a sheet pops down, don't let its size scare you; most of the time you'll only need the first few options.

There are two ways to export a document; you can export the entire document or just a part of it; when you choose File → Export you will export the entire document but when you choose File → Partial Export the visible rectangle will indicate the region that is to be exported. Of course you can reselect this area, move it and resize it. Do not forget that the Format-Bar exactly lists the position and the size of the part that will be exported.

Basic options

The size lets you specify the size of the exported image, this size is the same as the document size, but when you want to export to a smaller size, you can specify the right size here. The format is quite self-explanatory; you can choose between JPG,GIF,PNG and TIFF. Each format has an option, which you can see on the right.

Effects

Below the first line you can apply some effects to the image; you can flip the image or rotate it. When you plan to print the image, than maybe it might be convenient to convert it to grayscale. There is also an option for sepia.

Exporting Layers

The topic is a bit misplaced here, but DrawIt also allows you to export single layers. (Note that you can also export groups) This way you can save certain shapes you have made yourself, or images you frequently use. Of course you can import these layers again in other documents. The import and export can be found under Edit → Import/Export Layer

Clipboard share

When you cut of copy a layer from DrawIt onto the clipboard and, for example, paste it into Pages. DrawIt will convert the layer to an image file, so that other applications can read it. This way you can draw a complex shape and then use it in another document you're working in.
