The account is ment to hold funds that you have or that you plan to spend. Each account may contain some initial amount money and a list of transactions that relate to it.
Accounts can be created for different purposes. This can be:
In other words, an account not only the repository of money, but a means to separate some money from others.
Each account in the ledger has its own currency. Transactions that operate on this account can be in any currency; currency conversion is done automatically on the most appropriate exchange rate at the date of the transaction.
Also in the account there are such attributes as "Starting Balance" and "Current Balance". Starting balance determines how much money was in the account at the creation in the ledger. In the future when calculating the current balance of this account, starting balance is added to all transactions amount. Current account balance shows the cash balance of the account at the moment. Both of these attributes are expressed in account currency.
On the "Accounts" tab you can see all your accounts in tabular form, which displays the name of your account, starting balance (balance at the time of account opening), the current balance and the currency accounts. At any time you can edit the account name, change the starting balance, as well as change the account currency. If you change the account currency, all transactions carried out in different currencies on selected accounts will be converted in the chosen currency, in accordance with the history of exchange rates to correctly display the account balance.
You can add a new account by clicking on the button . After that a new record in a table will be created, where you will need to enter a new account name, choose the currency for it, and if necessary specify the starting balance.
You can delete selected account by pressing the button . Meanwhile, the Personal Ledger will warn you that all transactions are assigned to this account (including transaction and transfer to this or from this account) will also be deleted. After your confirmation the account will be deleted.
Also on the top of the "Accounts" tab an interactive chart displayed for the dynamics of selected accounts balances . You can select more than one account to show in this graph, by holding "Command" and clicking the mouse on the accounts. You can choose the currency in which to display the dynamics of balance by selecting it from the dropdown menu "Show in currency." If you selected multiple accounts, you can also see the dynamics of total balance of all selected accounts by clicking on the appropriate check box "Show the total balance."
