Server: Pentium 4, 1.0 Ghz or higher with 1024 MB RAM and at least 300MB free disk space.
Operating Systems: Windows XP Professional, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 7 or Windows 2008. Note that the web server is included and is a part of these operating systems.
Runtime: Released version of Microsoft.Net 4.0 runtime (available from the Microsoft Web site). Note that the setup program automatically installs the appropriate version of the .Net runtime.
Database: Sql Server 2005/2008 Express, Sql Server 2005/2008 (any version). Note that the setup program automatically installs the appropriate version of the Sql Server 2008-R2 Express Edition (OfficeClip9 instance).
Authorization: Administrator access to the machine on which OfficeClip is to be installed.
Client: Internet Explorer 6(or higher), Firefox 2.0 (or higher), Chrome, Safari or any other DOM-compliant browser.
Before installing OfficeClip you are advised to verify the authenticity of the files. This is because sometimes files can be corrupted during download, at other times you may have downloaded a malicious file with the same name from a phishing site. OfficeClip signs the following files with digital certificate:
OfficeClip.msi
setup.exe
setupNoSql.exe
You must validate the digital certificate before installing OfficeClip on your computer.
1. Unzip the downloaded file in a folder. Right click on each of the above file and select Properties

and then click on the button. If you do not see the Digital Signature Tab then the file may not be genuine. Please see below to download OfficeClip from the correct location.Digital Signature is shown valid and also verify the Name of the Signer.

To install OfficeClip on your machine, double-click on setup.exe
file and follow on screen instructions.
Installation program automatically checks and installs .Net framework 4.0, Sql Server Express 2008-R2(OfficeClip instance) and other necessary components.
Installation may take several minutes depending on your network speed and the components needed to install.
After you double-click on the setup.exe
, the installation program will start installing all the prerequisites. When everything is installed, you will see the initial setup screen:
Click on the
button.Read the license agreement and click on I Agree and then click on the
button.Select the folder where OfficeClip should be installed and click on the
button.Select the parameters of the Internet Information Services to create a new website for OfficeClip. Following are the choices:
Website: You can select Default Web Site (this is useful if your OfficeClip application is in a virtual directory) or you can create a new website.
Application Name: The name of the OfficeClip application. Leave it empty if the OfficeClip website is at the root
Web Site Name: The name of the website, this is useful when you are creating a new web site.
Physical Path: The path of the OfficeClip files, this is preselected from the last screen.
Host Name: This will go in as Host Header
. It is useful if OfficeClip needs to be accessed using various domains.
IP Address: If the machine where OfficeClip is installed has multiple IP addresses, it will allow selection of the address which can be used to access OfficeClip.
Port: Allows different port for OfficeClip access.
Double check all the values and click on the
button.OfficeClip installer will now start copying files and setup the Internet Information Services (IIS)
.
When the installation is successful you can close the window by clicking on the
button. Clicking on the button should bring up the OfficeClip website. In some cases you may have to do it manually. Follow the next screen.Upon launching, OfficeClip configuration program will start to setup database and SMTP
email.
If you are installing for the first time, you can select the default option which will install OfficeClip on the bundled SQL Server Express
database. If your organization already has a SQL Server
database and may want to install OfficeClip on that database, select the second option and supply all the parameters. See the section below if you do not want to download the bundled database.
OfficeClip uses SMTP
to send emails out of OfficeClip. The SMTP
parameters can be obtained from your ISP or local administrator. You can also use your Gmail account.
If you do not want to install the bundled database (and want to use your own Sql Server) follow the instructions below.
Run setupNoSql.exe by double clicking on it.
During installation when asked for the Sql Server user id and password, use the sa
as the login id and the sa password as the password. Type a database name that does not yet exist in the Sql Server.
You will need to enable the Mixed Mode authentication in the Sql server and get the sa password from your administrator. Please note that SQL Server 2005 and 2008 are currently supported.
If the sa password is not available (or cannot be provided), ask your administrator to create a database login for you and also create an empty database for OfficeClip. Your login must have full privileges on this database.
Manual installation of OfficeClip is useful in situations where you do not have privileges to install OfficeClip by running the setup.exe program (for example at a hosting provider). It will allow you to copy (or ftp) all the files to the target machine, setup the application in the IIS and start OfficeClip. At this point OfficeClip will walk you through creation of all configuration files and database.
Manual installation requires a separate download. Please contact OfficeClip for more information.
In some systems IIS is not configured by default. In such cases you will need to set it up manually. Follow these instructions:
Bring up the Control Panel and double click on .
Click on
Next select the check boxes to enable IIS
features and click on the button.
Bring up the Control Panel again and select . Then double click on .
Point to the website where OfficeClip is installed (if OfficeClip is not installed yet, you may have to do this step after the OfficeClip installation) and double click on the IIS

Right click on the OfficeClip website (or virtual directory) and click on

From the left window of IIS Manager, click on ASP.NET v4.0.30319 is set to Allowed

Now make sure that the Internet Information Services (IIS) is checked. Click on the button to install IIS.
You may be asked to put the Windows XP CD during this process so keep it ready!
Next go to Control Panel > >
Follow the same step as in the IIS 6.0 section above to set the Directory Security and ASP.NET Version.

The following shows some common installation errors:
This error can occur during the installation process if the setup program does not detect the Internet Information Services (IIS). Please see the section on setting up the Internet Information Services Manager above.
There may be a number of reasons for this. Please see the following article in the OfficeClip forum:
Switch off all the virus protection and disable the firewall temporarily during installation
From the Microsoft website install the 32-bit (or 64-bit) version of the .Net framework version 4.0.
From the Microsoft website install the 32-bit (or 64-bit) version of the SQL Server Express. During installation choose the Instance as OFFICECLIP9
and select mixed mode authentication.
Follow the instructions on the section Installation on your own Sql Server Instance.

If you cannot find a solution, go to the installation folder (default is c:\program files\officeclip\8
folder) and then go to the log
folder.
Zip the files in the log
sub folder and send them to OfficeClip support at ocsupport@officeclip.com

To uninstall OfficeClip from your computer, go to Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs
and then select the OfficeClip application. Click the button. However, there will still be other residual software on your computer. Follow the instructions given below to remove all the components:
Microsoft .Net 4.0 Runtime: Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs
and remove the Microsoft .Net 4.0 Runtime
. Note that this software may be used by other programs in your system so removing this may cause other programs in your system to fail.
Sql Server 2008 Express: This can be removed from the Control Panel as explained in the previous step. Note that you must install only the OFFICECLIP9 instance of the Sql Server. Other instances may be present in your machine that is being used by other applications.
Installation folder for OfficeClip: The installation folder for OfficeClip can be manually removed. Usually this is at C:\Program Files\OfficeClip\. Note however that the Sql database may be created in a data folder inside this directory. By removing it you may lose all your data.
