Setting Yasu Preferences

Certain aspects of how Yasu runs are set from the application preferences.

Check for new version at launch

Selecting this option will allow Yasu to check a latest release version value stored in a text file on the web server at jim mitchell design (http://jimmitchelldesign.com/yv.txt) and compare it to an internally stored number. If the number on the server is greater, Yasu lets you know a newer version is available.

Quit other applications while running

Turning this option on will cause all applications that are open to quit before the maintenance tasks are performed. It is recommended that this option be turned on by the user to ensure the potential for data loss is eliminated.

Note: This option is NOT turned on by default in order to keep those who run Yasu for the first time from getting scared by all their applications suddenly quitting. This option has been left for user to set themselves.

Show multi-user warning before running

When this option is selected, Yasu will show a warning to check for other users logged into the system before running commands that will either restart or shutdown the computer. This is done to prevent other users from potentially losing their work.

Securely delete internet related files

Activating this option will cause internet (browser) related files to be securely erased from the disk, with the data being passed over multiple times to prevent possible recovery.

Note: This option will make the browser file cleaning process take an extremely long time. Only use it if your circumstances really call for it.

Opening the preferences panel

The preference panel is opened by selecting the "Preferences..." menu item from the "Yasu" menu, or by typing <cmd+,> (comma).
